BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN
Automation and Mechatronics Curriculum
Department: DIME – University of Genoa
Chair: Prof. Ing. Pietro Fanghella
ABOUT THE COURSE
The preparation of the mechanical engineer is among the most solid, complete, versatile and appreciated by the world of work. The level of expertise, in fact, does not only concern the design, production and automation of machines, systems, consumer goods and services, but goes beyond, extending also to economic and organizational aspects, to that of economic-management, to advanced applications in the fields of mechatronics, automation, energy and environmental impact assessments, always in the interests of quality and safety.
To enroll in the Bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering, students must have a secondary school diploma or other suitable recognized qualification obtained abroad.
90% of the graduates in Mechanical Engineering find work within 12 months of the degree in various sectors in Italy and abroad. The main employment opportunities are in the mechanical and electromechanical industries, plant design and installation and shipbuilding companies, automation industries, robotics and mechatronics, companies for the production of goods, for installation and testing, maintenance and management of machines, production lines and departments, and energy companies.
Due to the modalities and the didactic contents strongly oriented to the basic disciplines and envisioned characteristics, the graduate in Mechanical Engineering is well prepared to continue his studies in the Master’s Degree programs.
PROGRESSION IN THE PROGRAM
The Course Catalog foresees that, after a first year in which the basic scientific competences are given priority, in the following two years the disciplines of Mechanical Engineering will be developed, giving space to topics related to the integration of mechanical systems with computer systems, electronic and electric.
The final exam offers the possibility to have internships, during which it is possible to apply the acquired knowledge and skills as well as to develop other operational skills useful in completing the student’s preparation.
